My blog is dofollow and I try to stick with other blogs that are are also dofollow. It just makes things so much better for everyone. Bloggers get more commentators and those commenting get some link juice from the blog as well. It is a win-win situation. To block spammers the best way is to use Akismet, I think it is now available for 20 different blog platforms and is totally free. Eliminates a majority of spam for you. I try to visit new blogs and after several visits if the blog in one that agrees with my political thinking I will add them to my blogroll and hope they will do the same.
